RUN YOUR CODE AT SEA

Choose Your Adventure

From just getting started with Python and Raspberry Pi to advanced data analysis, Ocean Pi has projects for all experience levels.

Send An Image To Sea

Design a personalized image on the Sense HAT’s LED array, send it to our ship, and then use the gyroscope to animate your creature using the ship’s motion. This is an extension of Astro Pi’s “Mission Zero,” and is a great project for beginners or elementary school children.

Guess Our Ship’s Location

Utilize data from the ship to guess the boat’s location. Your code will run for 30 seconds on the ship at a random moment during our voyage and should produce a LAT/LON coordinate guess. Data sources on board include the weather station, skycam, flow-through ocean water sensors, and the ship’s navigation data.

Hunt a Pirate Ship!

You have been called upon to track down a pirate ship that is sailing from Massachusetts to the Gulf of Mexico. The authorities have managed to hack into the ship’s computer systems for short 30 second intervals, but they have found there is no GPS data. Clearly these pirates do not want to be found! Can you use the rest of the ship’s scientific instrument data to guess its location?
